First Medal in World Championships for Bosnia & Herzegovina in History

Zlatan Hrelja – Team manager of B & H reports:
“I like to write about my athlete Mehmedalija Bajric (hammer and weight throw)."
He is 60 years old now and I have known him for about 45 years from his beginning in athletic competitions in Sarajevo. At that time I was team doctor and athlete, too (110m and 400m hurdles).
Now, we are in the Association of Athletic Veterans of Bosnia & Herzegovina – he as an outstanding athlete and me in the function of President of our athletic association.
Bajric has been successful during the last decade: five times champion in Balkan Championships, European champion 2008 in Ljubljana in hammer throw, two silver medals in hammer and weight throw 2010 in EVACS in Nyiregyhaza.
On April 4th 2012 a new page in athletic history of Bosnia and Herzegovina was written: Mehmedalija Bajiric won the first ever silver medal in a world championship for his country.
We all are very proud and happy and hope to improve the acceptance of master athletics in our country for the future.
